下金蛋的鸡（Chickens that lay golden eggs）
从前，有一对懒惰的夫妻，生活十分贫困，却整日想着不劳而获，希望天上掉馅饼下来。有一天，神奇的事情发生了，他们家的母鸡居然下了一个金蛋！
这对夫妻把金蛋拿到市集上去卖，换了一大笔钱。竟然不费吹灰之力就得到了这么一大笔钱，夫妻二人心里都喜滋滋的。就这样，他们每天都拿一个金蛋到市集上卖，不久便发了大财，买下了很多田地，又盖起了漂亮的大房子，还请了许多仆人，日子过得舒服极了。
但是他们依旧很贪心，对这一切仍然不满足。有一天，妻子对丈夫说： “既然那只母鸡每天可以下一个金蛋，那它的肚子里一定有很多很多的金蛋，说不定还藏着一个大金库呢！”
丈夫听了，十分赞同地说： “没错！我们干脆把它杀了，把所有的金蛋都取出来，这样我们就不用天天那么麻烦去捡蛋了。”
说干就干，夫妻俩兴冲冲地走向鸡窝，把母鸡杀了。但结果让他们大失所望，母鸡的肚子里根本没有什么金蛋，更别提金库了！夫妻俩非常后悔，但为时已晚，他们本来每天能有一个金蛋，现在什么都没有了。
很快，夫妻俩把所有的财产花光了，又过回了贫困的生活。他们住回了原来的破屋子，哀叹道：“要是我们珍惜原有的财富该多好啊！如果我们不杀那只下金蛋的母鸡，现在每天还能有一个金蛋呢！”
寓意：如果不懂得知足，贪得无厌，我们就会失去已经拥有的东西。

Moral: If we don't know how to be satisfied and are insatiable, we will lose what we already have.
